Just about everyone has a vision of his or her ideal life. Maybe you’ve always dreamed of being a successful writer, musician, or entrepreneur. But you haven’t made it a reality yet.
Then maybe what you need is a mentor or coach; someone to help you change your perspective and find the inner strength to accomplish your goals. Just like the people who push athletes to greatness in sports, life coaches push their clients to find success and satisfaction from their job or lifestyle.
Unlike in sports, life coaches don’t focus on changing certain behaviors, like correcting a bad golf swing. According to the International Coach Federation (ICF), they develop their clients’ overall strengths and abilities. One of our core values at Hope Faith Victory is the firm belief that “any obstacle in front of you is never greater than the strength within you”.
What Is a Life Coach?
These professionals provide the motivation, guidance and accountability their clients need to improve their lives in four main areas: 1) Health and Fitness 2) Family & Relationships 3) Vocation and most importantly, 4) self-care. They help clients to:
- Recognize their passions, purpose and missions and refocus their life’s goals
- Learn their lessons quickly so they can grow and continue on their journey
- Remember that life is a goal worth achieving
- Find the motivation and tools to get to their physical and emotional health goals.
Unlike a nutritionist or physical therapist, who makes specific and exercise suggestions, a life coach will help you make better general choices that fit your lifestyle and help you focus on what’s really important to you – living a positive lifestyle and maintaining wellness through healthy choices and thoughts.
Why Would I Need Help?
There are many reasons. For instance, you might consider looking for the support of a life coach if you:
- Don’t have an acceptable health-life-work balance
- Have a lot of stress
- Aren’t as healthy as you’d like to be
How Do I Work With a Coach?
First, you’ll sit down with your life coach over the phone or in person. The sessions will range from 30 to an hour. During that time, you’ll talk about what you want to accomplish.
Through the questions your coach asks, together you’ll define your goals and the challenges that could stand in your way. Then you’ll outline the steps you’ll need to take to achieve those goals. This is the very foundation of Hope Faith Victory – Formulate an idea/goal, strategize a plan and put it into action. Believe it, see it, act upon it!
You’ll have homework assignments — things to think about or do between coaching sessions to work toward your goals. For example, you might make a vision board to serve as a visual representation of what your intentions are, this helps you stay focused on what you want in life and what’s really important to you.
Your life coach will offer support, guidance and resources along the way. And your coach will hold you accountable for achieving your goals.
